Materials Recycling Facilities
Thiess Services designs, constructs, operates and maintains state-of-the-art Materials Recycling Facilities (MRFs) either owned by us or on behalf of external clients.
Our MRFs are highly automated and capable of handling large volumes of either co-mingled or source separated recyclables. Recyclable materials are carefully separated and baled in preparation for on sale through established markets around the world.
We currently own seven major MRFs in Australia and process more than 250,000 tonnes of recyclable materials per year.
Our MRF at Somersby on the New South Wales Central Coast was opened in June 2008 and is the first of its kind in Australia to use near-infrared technology to auto-sort paper, glass and plastic streams, resulting in more advanced material separation.
