Thiess Services Awarded Green FM Company of the Year

Held at the Jumeirah Zabeel Saray Hotel, Dubai, Over three hundred of the brightest Facilities Management stars and companies from across the GCC attended the Facilities Management Awards 2011.

Thiess Services were shortlisted in 4 categories;
 Sanitation & Waste Management contractor (which they won in 2010)
 Sustainability Initiative
 Green FM Company
 Health & Safety Initiative

TSME were singled out by the judges for a ‘special mention’ in the ‘sanitation and waste contractor’ category for the avoidance of landfill on their waste management contract at Al Dhafra.

However, the night was crowned for the team when TSME were presented with the award for ‘Green FM Company of the year 2011’. The judges recognised the companies efforts in the active promotion of green initiatives Thiess have introduced within their FM contracts such as: Microfiber cleaning technology (reducing consumption of both water and harmful chemicals), waste recycling and resource recovery (diverting almost 500,000 tonnes from land fill to date) and energy audits whose recommendations would achieve very significant annual savings.  The award was presented to Mr Richard Naylor, general manager, facilities management.  Proudly holding the coveted award, Naylor said “It's an honour to receive this award and we are delighted to be recognised for our hard work in implementing our Environmental Policy. We will be introducing further initiatives later this year. I think this award recognises both the emphasis Thiess place on sustainable solutions but also the foresight of our clients in supporting these initiatives”

Thiess culture was founded 75 years ago around the belief that waste and environment are intrinsically linked.  As FM service providers here in the GCC, TSME lead by example both in terms of their sustainable service delivery practices (supported by the introduction of their ‘everyday sustainability programme’) and also in helping their clients to achieve both their aspirations and requirements with regards to ESTIDAMA compliance.
